In iA Presenter, you can now turn tables into charts with one click. Charts are tables.
@agebhard Not sure about that. Switzerland definitely doesn't like them. In Japan "nails that stick out want to get hammered in". Even in Australia they have a "tall poppy syndrom" (heads get cut off). The U.S. may be a bit different.
@agebhard I watched the talk and saw lots of gaps, wondering: "is this still Morse code still comprehensible?". It's difficult to judge how much one needs to explain to make sense and how much people can figure out by themselves. One can feel it though. A stripped down V2 will definitely substantially better. :)
@agebhard I noticed while I spoke how the e parts of the speech started growing together. Who is to blame? The economy? The technology? Design? Everyone that works. What we accept as normal scares us to trust our senses when we perceive the that what is commonly accepted as normal is not necessary (not-wendig) but historical and often plain accidental.
@agebhard I opened by saying everything is made, but jot made well, because we lack imagination. Then I say how we use imagination to build our products by pointing out that we observed how normal things (Word, PowerPoint, notebooks) works. Then I closed that it needs courage to imagine abnormal, different things. But I failed to close that the courageous thing is pointing out the emperor's clothes. Seeing what no one sees doesn't mean you're wrong.
@agebhard First part went well then I got nervous and started speeding through taking shortcuts. Too much material. I also just realized after the talk that the key to imagination is trusting your perception no matter how abnormal it may be.
Had a great time giving the talk on Madness and Imagination this morning at Beyond Tellerrand #btconf. Here are the slides (raw unedited). I'm on the way to Berlin right now. Will be back tomorrow. https://sharing.ia.net/presenter/b541d9ee82f24318a025b3a1a2f97d67/view
Madness and Imagination

Madness and Imagination Dare to Know, Dare to Imagine, Dare to Make

„You have to be ready to be perceived as mad. That is the deal.“
Thanks for that @reichenstein #btconf
iA Presenter now lets you write charts. To make it easy, we had to completely redesign the UI for markdown tables: https://ia.net/topics/charts-and-tables

"Our current setup fits our needs so well that I want to rub my eyes every time I open it." - Oliver Reichenstein @reichenstein

We’re really glad that working with Kirby has been such a positive experience for Information Architects! @ia

After 20 years on the web and carefully reviewing all the options, iA.net switched to Kirby. This decision came from a team with very high standards for design and usability, as well as a distinct approach to organising information.
