I am a Wife, Mom, RN in East TN;

likes and interests include books, music, motorcycles, being outside, #ActuallyAutistic community, interested in #CultsAndExtremeBeliefs psychology, and more

I like to pronounce my username so it sounds like reality but it started as "real amy"

I’m worried about her

First she had a cough that got better; vet said probably just a bronchitis

Now she acts more tired than usual

She’s almost 14 (as far as we know, we adopted her and they reported her age as 4 then)

Her breed is a spitz

Haven’t read it yet but hope #bookstodon enjoys this cover of Frank Herbert’s book The White Plague

Found it in a bookshop over the last weekend

This was published in 1915

And it could have been written today.

He says China built a wall, the Germans built a wall around their minds

The entire book: *chef’s kiss*

Wow, found an original print of this in a bookshop today

The Project Gutenberg eBook of The Pentecost of Calamity, by Owen Wister.

Lol you can’t tell me the author didn’t know

Ordered
There’s probably a word for the mixed emotion of finding such a cool book but also being sad and grieving for the years lost that you didn’t know it existed

Edit: realized I didn’t alt text: picture of book: “Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows” in gold lettering on a black background with scattered gold stars

One of my Christmas presents and current obsession; unfortunately the two column layout of the text portions is one that I find difficult to read, paired with the visually alluring maps make it even more difficult

Linguistic rebels

The fish-fishes discussion takes me back to high school when a senior talked about tutoring younger students and the struggle she had explaining it is fish, not fishes, in the plural.
I thought about it so long that using fish in the plural sounded wrong and I forgot which way I said it before

My dog is such a sweetheart.

(Picture of white dog resting with head on pillow)

When I took this picture She had had a busy morning and when I came in the room she had pulled this pillow into her crate and laid down on it. It became her pillow that day.

Thinking about constructs and #ActuallyAutistic

Taking note for myself to consider the neurobiology of reality filters

Would like to deep dive, Compare and contrast autistic constructs v non-autistic
