For the first time in a long time, I have a professional CV!

(100% hand-coded HTML of course, and the PDF was itself printed from the HTML via a print stylesheet.) 😎

I'm looking to make a major impact on a fast-growing team with high-stakes full-stack architecture or design system planning underway. I also provide deep expertise in open source governance & technical writing. Contract only.

Please boost! 🙏

Lost in Minitest? Start here! - Remi Mercier - Software Developer

I have a confession to make: I have never used Minitest in the seven years I've been a professional programmer. Lured by the promise of speed and wide adoption, I decided to try Minitest. Then I hit an unexpected roadblock.

announcing a new community-focused gem server from the team previously behind rubygems: https://gem.coop. join us and start using it today!
gem.coop

We’re excited to introduce gem.coop – a new server for gems in the Ruby ecosystem. We aim for fast, simple hosting, that is compatible with Bundler but optimized for the next generation. It’s built for the community by the former maintainers and operators of RubyGems.org.

@jaredwhite Uncanny valley effect. It’s everywhere these days!

Ruby Central has posted their weekly update:

https://rubycentral.org/news/weekly-update-friday-october-3/#how-to-engage

I do recommend sending questions in to them. None were answered in this update, but we'll see if they get addressed in future updates.

If you are not comfortable with the lack of transparency Ruby Central has shown in the past, and want to *also* record your question in public in a place others can find it, I set up this repository:

https://github.com/community-research-on-ruby-governance/questions-for-ruby-central

Then we can see what if anything they answer in future updates.

Weekly Update — Friday, October 3

Thanks for holding us to a regular cadence. I’m liking being able to share with you all regularly. Today’s Friday update is brief, as we shared a comprehensive status on Tuesday, and much of that work is still in motion. Here’s where things stand: Production services (rubygems.

@skillstopractice I agree 100% about private sessions. Summaries are never great either.

We need transparency, clarity, reflection... to (re)build trust, as you said.

@skillstopractice I threw it here because I wasn't sure about it: I've never attended that kind of meeting so I ignore if there's an established etiquette/protocol for it and this one feels... delicate.

The idea hasn't received any attention until now, but I'll try contacting the RC folks in case they like it. Thank you Gregory!

@oinak Indeed 😞
MINASWAN but there's so much dirt under the carpet!

About the postponed Q&A from Ruby Central, I wonder if it could happen asynchronously (through GitHub issues maybe?)

It could (in no particular order):

- Lower the tension for those asking/answering questions
- Group/link Qs and As
- Give everyone way more time to reflect before sending their words
- Increase opportunities for follow-up questions and clarifications (clarity is the main goal I think!)
- Make it accessible to folks from any timezone (I can't think at all at, let's say, 3AM)
