I was just going to back to see how good a deal I got by getting Apollo Lifetime subscription. I got in Nov 2021, which works out to $1.94 / month. Still a pretty good bargain.
Sad two see two of my favorite apps coincidentally getting sunset on the same day: Friday.
Duolingo gets goofy, irrelevant and steeps into man-(owl?)-splaining.
After a 2300 day streak (from back when missing a day cost $10 USD to repair it), I shouldn't be hearing that I'm on a roll, that daily practice is important or that I'm finally heating up.
There are tons of paper cuts like this. When you're talking in a conversation in Messages and you use a tapback response, it sends a description of what that action was... in the language your phone is set to.
iOS is mostly monolingual, as the exceptions like attached example and bilingual keyboard, prove the general rule that it is incapable of handling contexts in which more than one language is being used at a time.
Biggest feature request for iOS: - Siri is already aware of languages and already announces “This person wrote you a message but it’s not in English”. The next step is to simply read the message in the original language using the Siri from that language. It’s all already there on the phone. It’s a matter of “if language is Portuguese read message with Siri Portuguese.” This would be such a great experience improvement for so many multilingual people around the world.
