Mexican-American photographer Philip Montgomery (*1988) is known for his photojournalistic work, in which he portrays American society – its conflicts and alliances – in iconic black-and-white images. Whether in Minneapolis after the murder of George Floyd or in Miami during Hurricane Irma, his photographs are characterised by a palpable tension between the timelessness of his dramatic visual language and the urgency of the events depicted.
