Intransitive Lie(moved)I guess I should feel sad that Twitter is failing, but frankly I mostly had a terrible time there. Mostly. Not because it's a toxic hellsite but because I'm bad at social media.
But it's not about me. I'm in solidarity with sex workers, protestors, activists, and various other folks who found homes on Twitter and are now basically being evicted. In solidarity with all the folks who've lost their jobs. Basically, there are a lot of folks who are hurt by this and that sucks.
And not everyone can just jump to Mastodon or Cohost or Instagram. Twitter was a unique situation for a lot of people. Hell, for me too. I'm annoyed that now if I want to read things from various people, I have to go to two or three different places to do it.
So while we're all here saying, "Oh, Mastodon is a breath of fresh air, it's so pleasant, etc." just remember that it's not for some marginalized folks. That it's not tenable for others.
In other words, I've got mixed feelings. I wish I'd gotten to go viral even once because I crave dopamine. That's not healthy, but it is what it is. I wish I'd found that sense of belonging and community that some people are now mourning. I wish lots of things.
Social media is real life. That's good and bad.

Anagram Man@WalterShaub There is a tool called Fedifinder which will help you find your twitter peeps who have accounts on a mastodon server. There is an option to export a CSV file which you could then import and merge
The dread I feel in volunteering or being asked to volunteer is always vastly outweighed by the satisfaction and fulfillment I feel in completing the task...but I never remember that at the time.

Initial foray into mstdn: finding someone I know, following them. Finding people that also follow them and following them. Doing a few very generic searches and following people that pop up in those results. Smile. Nod. Repeat.
