The stories about National Geographic today should be headlined "Disney lays off the last of National Geographic's staff writers" -- and put the responsibility where it belongs.
At the very least, stories should start like this: "The Disney Co.'s National Geographic laid off its remaining staff writers..."
The same policy should apply to layoffs at newspapers controlled by hedge funds -- and any media org owned by a larger entity.
