The stories about National Geographic today should be headlined "Disney lays off the last of National Geographic's staff writers" -- and put the responsibility where it belongs.

At the very least, stories should start like this: "The Disney Co.'s National Geographic laid off its remaining staff writers..."

The same policy should apply to layoffs at newspapers controlled by hedge funds -- and any media org owned by a larger entity.

@dangillmor I learned about it from deadline- an entertainment news blog- and they covered it well-

@dangillmor Nat Geo has a long and sordid history, but I remain glad that I saved every copy when my mother bought me unwanted subscriptions for a few years. It's an archive, at the least.

I feel old. Hard copy actually belongs to me and will continue to belong to me After our Civ falls and the world wide web becomes a folktale for children. I like that.

It would be useful to also detail everything Disney has done to expedite its demise.

Lately, as I listen to podcast news from the New York Times and NPR, I’ve been translating passive sentences into active constructions. Turns out I can spend *a lot* of time turning passive constructions into active constructions. Journalists love them their passive sentences. Amazing how stuff just happens! Without actors!
@dangillmor 🤣😂🤣😂 do you really think that any media wants to show the truth about anything to anyone including own staff or contractors ,when are to busy keeping details from each one...🤣😂🤣😂🤪and lining own pockets...

@dangillmor Last year I started putting together a package to apply for an Art Director job at National Geographic, very excited at the opportunity. Then I discovered it was now a subsidiary of Disney and stopped in my tracks. I knew it wouldn't be a long term gig.
