Sandra Trehub on the phenomenon of infant-directed song. She put decades of passionate work into its understanding, using a variety of methods. Always sincere, curious, and willing to drop a bias or two. #musicality

For the first time in my career I am teaching a Psychology of Music course!! And I'm crazy enough to be offering it as a seminar for both undergrad AND graduate students... so wish me luck!

I'd like to thank those who taught similar courses to me (Diana Deutsch, Gerald Balzano, Carol Krumhansl). And also all the authors of articles I'm including in my course, incl. @tuomaseerola @psycheloui @PatrickESavage @sam and many others not on mastodon.

I'm happy to share my syllabus here for anyone interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10MUisOomsL6qwiCvZH1I2e8mZ0r0wkYa/view?usp=sharing

Also great to hear from @[email protected] @[email protected] and many listeners across the country. I snuck this selfie before having to turn my phone off (note violin case in the background)
Enjoyed chatting @[email protected] with @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] this morning. #musicscience, music-based interventions, effects of music on body, and even some violin demos (such as it is :P) Listeners brought in such great examples! This quote amused me, as a psyche. But I still think weโ€™re getting at the psyche through psychological science

@[email protected] "Psychological science" is neither psychology nor science. It's psychology without psyche.

The human ear can typically hear sound waves ranging from 20 cycles per second (Hertz) up to about 20,000 Hertz, though the specific range for each person depends on many things like how old you are and how much noise you were exposed to throughout your life. 2/
