Immersive Play Locations - Lemmy.World
I’ve been looking at leasing a space for a potential business idea, but I wanted
to see what others thought of it. What I’m thinking about is immersive play
spaces. A tavern setup that looks like something out of a D&D game, or maybe a
spaceport bar for those into SciFi games. Even thinking about a possible
Cyberpunk styled bar. The idea is that they would be member driven with guest
passes, and alcohol would be supply your own. What I’m asking is if one of these
spaces was in your area, would you pay a nominal monthly fee? I’m thinking
between $25 to $50 a month with five guest passes.

My favorite is when someone tells me that they are too old to learn about new
technology, or that they can’t use a device because they aren’t very tech-y. No,
you just refuse to learn.

It always feels like some form of VR tech comes out with some sort of fanfare
and with a promise it will take over the world, but it never does.

What industry could benefit from more of their technology being open source, but the solutions are either not there or seriously lacking?

For me, it’s small business retail. Point-of-Sale systems, physical inventory
management, the existing options are not built for smaller operations or are not
good.

The past couple of years, the amount of kids out on Halloween has dwindled down
in my neighborhood. This year, my wife and I were at her cousin’s house and we
saw maybe a couple of kids walking around. My wife blames people going to Trunk
or Treat things. We both work in retail, so we see more of the public, and
nobody was in costume. What was everybody’s experience with Halloween this year?

I’m shouldn’t have ice cream due to my Type 2 diabetes, but once in a while, I
stop at Mc Donalds and get myself a McFlurry with M&M’s. I get a bit sick later,
but I find it worth it.
Slang and Lingo - Lemmy.World
As I have been browsing RPG communities on Lemmy, Facebook, and Reddit, I have
noticed some of the slang that I used to hear is not present much in these
discussions. Now I know over time, slang and lingo do change, and I want to know
more about your experiences in it. One of the terms I used to hear was
“fish-malk”, referring to players that take on a character to be goofy, silly,
and “random”. They were usually useless and made playing the game for the rest
of the players rather difficult. So what lingo or slang terms are you using in
your groups, or terms you just don’t hear anymore?
