I wanted to verify that this signal is indeed SECAM, so I dragged out my multi-standard VCR, and yup! VCR display says SECAM. I also found some random Russian tapes with MESECAM recordings on them, which also played fine on the TV. From my understanding, MESECAM was just SECAM colour that was converted to be recorded/played back using PAL VCR hardware.

And it turns out, my capture card supports SECAM just fine as well (though the DVD recorder I use as a TBC does not.

Playing around with outputting SECAM on a raspberry pi and I was surprised my workbench TV displayed it. I know it supports NTSC and PAL, but for some reason I thought SECAM didn't work. It doesn't look great - lots of red and blue fringing on details, but the colours are present and accurate.

The multi-system support isn't listed in the manual, nor does it show on the on-screen display. Wild that they just silently threw in a feature like that. Good job, Philips.

Who needs an expensive pattern generator when I can make something out of old parts. Raspberry Pi 1B, perfboard, and some pushbuttons from old VCR scrap boards.

4 buttons cycle through patterns by category: solid colours, bars, hatches, and resolution. 5th toggles a 1KHz test tone.

After a power failure killed my POE switch this weekend, I got around to replacing one of the older modulators in my Cable Headend setup with a newer, 4 channel one. It's up to 13 analog channels now, plus the digital OTA stuff.

This has been a surprisingly reliable setup. The only issue is that KODI running on these Raspberry Pi's is picky and will crash if it encounters the slightest problem with a video file. So I have to be picky what I load onto these.

Did not expect to see a Zenith Healthview CRT TV in the waiting room today.

Holy phuq, I HATE AI with vengeance

OK, I accept the seller doesn’t really know what he has. It’s not a Cassette Deck. It’s not Audio Elcaset

He wants $7,000, but was too damn lazy to make the effort to do any work

The description is utter AI bullshit word salad. It says absolutely nothing 😬😬

We have red. I repeat, we have red!
