Really enjoyed watching the Artemis II launch today. USA can still do great things when it wants to.

Thanks should be given to the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo projects and the greats of that era like Gene Kranz who laid the groundwork for launching these kind of missions.

@georgetakei Israel has wanted the USA to engage Iran in a war for a long time, and finally got a dumb enough leader to do it.

I needed to let off some steam after watching JD Vance lie about and smear the name of Renee Good. It’s been a long practice of his to “create stories” to drive the narratives he wants, even if completely bogus. Let’s take Vance to task. My write up in the replies.
A "shithole country" isn't a poor country that can't feed its children. It's a rich country that won't feed its children.
@mkennedy @talkpython Use of Python as an embedded language in other platforms (e.g., Java) as a way to implement malleable DSLs.I have a Java application that has to do complex calculations; if I could do that in an embedded language rather than hard-coded in Java and store the embedded language in a database somewhere I'd be pretty happy. Considering options; Python is one.

@jerod You asked for book recommendations — I'll add Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Brilliant.

Your kids are not little versions of you; they are little versions of themselves. So, don't be sad or alarmed whenever they are becoming something different from you. Because, they will become *lots* of things that are different from you, and that's arguably the whole point. It is inarguably a thing that you need to cheerfully celebrate and support.
