Action-button idea:

If in Safari -> reader mode toggle!

Given how absolutely ridiculous and unreadable some sites are, this could be a little miracle button. Clarity through a single press.

@viticci FF16!!! I just listened to the new Remaster.. and in was so hoping to hear what you think of FF16. Alas nothing! Do you think you'll play it this year? It is sooo good.

Fyi - it is sooooo good, to me the best game of the year. It starts out a bit linear but then opens up. Very much feels like the old FF games (1-6), despite the battle system differing. The battle music! Gigantic bosses!!! Endless staircases!!! And an awesome story and characters. It's magical.

@siracusa @marcoarment Regarding the 17pro camera using last year’s hardware: is Apple running into physical limitations on what’s possible sensor-size wise?

Maybe the way they have been able to grow sensors year over year within the physical constraints of a phone is through wider and winder lenses. This would also track with the regular phone having a smaller sensor in combination the 26 mm equivalent lens.

Are we hitting a wall on how big sensors can get without making the lens longer?

2x / upscaling:

As far as I know the iPhone 14 pro camera doesn't upscale at 2x, but used unbinned pixels instead.

48 MP binned for 1x, but not binned at 2x, thus generating a true 12 MP picture with no upscaling needed. Likely comparable with iPhone 13 pics at 2x, given similar pixel size.

Hope I got this right!

Regarding gatekeeping and Mastodon:

i agree with your “there is no correct approach, paid app, open source, web app, explore and use what you like” - 100%

At the same time I'm reminded of Google Reader, and how RSS was open and exciting, yet once Google became dominant, Google had huge influence in its future. I understand people worrying that a dominant player/philosophy could push out their approach to Mastodon.

It feels like there is way too much “boosting” going on here. Please boost.
