If you buy a blue check, you should have to wear a hat with blue check on it so we can laugh.

Haha ex-Twitter employees have created their own Mastodon instance πŸ˜…

"This server is intended for current and previous twitter employees and their friends/family. We filter signups to try keep the server focused for community reasons." - https://macaw.social/about/more

Welcome to the Fediverse! :)

Annoying user experiences with SSL/TLS is a common experience with all operating systems tbh.
The only hiccup was installing a CA certificate used by the servers on my local network, because (I think) curl uses nss instead of OpenSSL (at least as built), so I ended up having to install the CA certificate in two places, which isn't a great experience.
I like that mastodon lets you know when a poll finishes. On the twitscape I'd never know unless I happened on it sometime later. πŸ‘
picking a mastodon server to join is easy -- just think of it like you're allying with one of many families in a war-torn medieval land, each with their own histories, feuds, laws, blood rituals
Installing FreeBSD into a VM so that I can test Perlish stuff (hardly my first time doing this), and I'm pretty impressed with version 13 which can be installed into a ZFS root out of the box.
