the oldest computer in my collection (a ~1996 PowerTower 180e) now officially boots
still need to find a hard drive for it, but it boots
there is something aesthetically pleasing about floor heating pipe loops
maybe it's just me
there was also a chat program, which I gotta admit was very rudimentary
the user can choose a specific computer on the Windows network to "dial" to (NOT a user, but a computer - probably since these versions were typically single user anyways, also dialing is what the app called starting a convo with someone)
the entire conversation is completely real-time text, with just two big boxes (the top box is for sending, the bottom is for receiving) for it
well, racking this up on my own was torture
my Windows SBS 2008 VM decided to randomly corrupt it's directory services database, for no reason at all, rendering the VM completely unbootable!
guess this thing's gone, at least it was purely an experiment
and it's a real shame, but hey, that was something
i hate cutting onions
my eyes hurt after all of this, and it was only one small onion
here's a case of me going a little too hard on a simple MNIST network
