Is your PINE64 RSS feed sad and lumpy? (It doesn't contain the full blog post, only a description) Well we have great news for you! We now publish the full blog post in your RSS feed (that's 65% more blog post per blog post!), don't know why it wasn't like that before, but there we go.

If you don't see this change already please update your RSS feed: https://pine64.org/blog/index.xml

Also appending the previous update with some new content in a blog post: https://pine64.org/2026/05/18/may_2026_quick/

The PineDio USB LoRa Adapter is at the focus of a new effort to begin progress on potential new LoRa devices. MeshCore is the current protocol target for the USB LoRa Adapter along with help from the pyMC_core library project.

The current problem with the device is that the crystal oscillator is heating up too much and can cause clock frequency drifting instability. In a nutshell that means your messages come out garbled. This may eventually be fixed with a TXCO (Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator) to maintain a stable clock frequency.

Hey everyone, we'd like to make a public disclosure to the community about a product currently selling on the PineStore website (pine64.com).

The current Desktop PinePower V2 batch has an issue where in some situations the USB-C ports will report "0V" when there is obviously something attached. In reality it is actually outputting the correct voltage.

This has been fixed for future batches, but the current batch still has stock available. There is no fix available for affected Desktop PinePower V2 batches as the MCU can only be flashed at the factory. We have no ETA when the fixed batch will start production as this depends on the rest of the buggered batch being sold. We'll let you all know when the fixed ones hit the store.

And please don't open your PinePowers as they're high voltage power supplies (dangerous, shocking even!). Hopefully that is obvious to most :)

Thanks!

PineTime Pro dev board initial bringup demonstration. This was the same board that was shown at FOSDEM 2026.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit our stand at #fosdem . We showed off a couple of new devices this year like the PineVoice home assistant speaker and the new PineTime Pro prototype. A lot of the discussion topics we had at FOSDEM will make it into a new community blog post. Including what this year will look like considering DRAM prices.

We had a lot of fun meeting you all, safe travels everyone!

#fosdem2026 PINE64 Community dinner. See you at FOSDEM this weekend!

Users Tux_Linux and Szybet have been working on a new firmware for the PineNote called QuillOS, it uses hrdl's kernel tree along with a custom user interface built on the Niri tiling window manager. It's currently still in development which you can follow the progress of in their Discord server (https://discord.gg/WbB9ZFYNRG).

There is an additional demonstration on YouTube for those interested.

Fishy fishy

Community member hrdl has released an Arch based image which includes their new display driver. Overall responsiveness has significantly increased since the last demo. The setup uses a sway config that allows brightness and display modes to be changed quickly.

PineNote users can find the image and instructions at their sourcehut repo

Quick update:
There was a miscommunication concerning the future of ARM devices in the recent Mastodon post announcing the discontinuation of the PinePhone Pro.

New devices from PineStore will continue to come with ARM SOCs and will not be going away in favor of RISC-V models. Devices will continue releasing with variations like the PineTab2 and PineTab-V.

This should have been communicated earlier so we apologize.

Have a great weekend!

Not really important, but wanted to share these banners because I like them.
