Last night's #boardgames included Dominion. It's hard to refuse when someone has brought an absolutely enormous box with about eight expansions.
Last night's #boardgames included Smash Up with 5 players. Each player combines two themed decks, hopefully finding synergies, to score points by dominating bases with their minions. I did quite well by coming second often and mopping up small points, but it wasn't quite enough to win. I love the idea of asymmetric decks, but was slightly uncomfortable with the copyright-skating IP. School of Wizardry? Lavender ponies with rainbows? Hmm. I'm off to see what the popular consensus is online.

Last night's #boardgames included Forest Shuffle and Mouse Cheese Cat Cucumber - all first time plays for me.

Forest Shuffle is very much Earth lite - which is not a negative. The graphic design is almost identical (though different designers). Plant trees, and then flora and fauna around them for interesting point generation. I was *very* lucky to collect 7 horse chestnuts.

I did poorly at MCCC as the mouse. I made my hidden role obvious early on and the cat won by exploiting my open path.

Belated: This week's #boardgames included Bomb Busters and Pass the Pigs. I felt it had been about 40 years since I last played Pass the Pigs, and it was a pleasant diversion. Meanwhile this was my first proper game of Bomb Busters, and it was a lot of cooperative fun, albeit with quite a few long pauses as some players (including me) pondered their best move. I wish the player racks were a bit more sturdy, but definitely recommended. A worthy winner of the Spiel des Jahres.
Last night's #boardgames included Red Dragon Inn. This was the second time I played, so needed some reminders, but even among the more seasoned players there was a bit rules checking. It's light and quite silly (in a good way), though does require everyone to spend time reading the tiny text on all their cards beforehand. Also, the player elimination isn't ideal, but isn't terrible as the game doesn't tend to last too long after the first player's been knocked out.
Unusually for our #boardgames group the same game came out twice in successive weeks. Emberleaf again. And I *finally* broke into double digit scoring. Phew. Once again we had to finish early (two new players out of five, so another teach, and our venue did have to close eventually) but we got some good time in, and everyone was reasonably pleased with their efforts. I am making peace with this game.
Last night's #boardgames included Emberleaf. On my two previous plays I failed to reach a double digit score (other players got 60 and above), so this time I really focused, and got to build a very effective engine with efficient victory conditions. I was very happy. And then our venue unexpectedly announced they needed to close early and we had to pack up. So I am *still* yet to break into double figures. >Sigh<
Last night's #boardgames included Good Face Bad Face and Cascadia. In an unexpected turn of events I didn't come distant last in both. My GFBF win was undoubtedly a lot of luck, but I was quite happy with my respectable middle ranking in Cascadia.
Last night's #boardgames included Hansa Teutonica - something I've wanted to try for a while. As usual I came last, but the game was great, and in particular that every action feels good. Even being kicked out of a space is good, because you get to place an extra piece. Definitely want to play again.
Last night's #boardgames included Dominion, with goodness-knows-what expansions. I was pleased to be finally playing with a debt card, which I'd read a lot about. Other than being very mean to my opponents and playing Ghost Ship a lot I had no strategy, plus I decided there was no point buying victory points once I fell behind, so I ended up in a very distant last place. But there were some spectacular plays, and I may have learned something.
