Almost all of our energy sources here on earth are solar, in the end.
- Solar panels, obviously.
- Wind is powered by the sun.
- Water is lifted up in the air by the sun before it rains.
- Coal and gas are ancient solar energy gathered by plants.
- Geothermal energy is, in part, caused by the moon or left over from the formation of the solar system. Which was caused by the sun.
What I find much more amazing is that there are some energy sources that are from the *previous* sun, created when it exploded:
- Nuclear fission energy is created from large atoms created at that time. This includes a portion of geothermal energy.
- Insofar as there are any of them left, some chemicals we can still burn/react were created then.
But there is one energy source that was not created by any sun:
- Nuclear fusion of hydrogen into helium. The hydrogen was created by the big bang!
