having a grumpy morning    #caturday #QuantumTunneling #Schrödinger

I'm really struggling with the idea that the responsibility to correct for corporate evil resides with individuals, and that failing to do so constitutes some form of evil itself.

It would seem tantamount to castigating individuals for not recycling "enough" when the true cause of pollution lies with industry.

It would seem a way for capital to coerce the pro-human and anti-capital to tear each other apart, causing nothing but self-inflicted wounds.

Then again, blithe oblivion to whence one's resources come also seems irresponsible.

But like, I have work to do that is more important than choosing the least impure tool every goddamn day.

@davidism Sigh. That's really depressing. I genuinely believed that Astral were trying to do the right thing in spite of the pressures of VC backing. Looks like I was wrong 🙁

REALITY: "Automating this 5 minute task is way more fun than doing it, so I'll spend all day automating it"

@SnoopJ @bitprophet Windows Terminal's actually pretty good. Yes, vim's mouse support works just fine there. And there's wezterm if you prefer - but I can't bring myself to like its (lack of) basic window controls (minimise, maximise, close).
@bitprophet It's not mouse support that matters to me - I very rarely use the mouse in vim - it's actually having the editor in its own window. And yes, I know I could open a new terminal window with vim in it, but that just *feels* different somehow.
@itamarst @bitprophet I've dabbled with emacs occasionally. Windows GUI is OK, but from what I recall font and/or theme handling was annoyingly glitchy. Also, I tend to dismiss emacs because I remember the days when it was considered big and slow. Sigh.
@bitprophet Helix has no GUI (yet - they say it's planned) and zed has built in AI (I believe). Helix looks interesting, though - I might see if I can learn to live with console-only...
@bitprophet yeah this makes me want to switch from vim. For me, the big problem is that neovim's Windows GUI is awful compared to vim's. I just cant get used to console-only vim clones, and "good native GUI" is a big requirement. So I'm stuck :-( Luckily vim changes so little st this point that just not updating is probably a good option...
