Live in Los Angeles. Retired. Spouse of

. Still trying to figure this thing out.
@mmalc @stacey_campbell @jef Oh that gave me a flashback to something from a few months ago. Sure enough we were in the UK. Those stress me out. At least I wasn't driving, though I think @stacey_campbell was stressing out about our crappy rental car at the time.
Spouse does not care for roundabouts and is still reeling from the 1 hour lecture she got years ago in suburban Melbourne, ahead of a solo drive through that city on the wrong side of the road/car, on how to properly enter, signal in, and exit roundabouts, from @stacey_campbell. She mercifully avoided an accident.

Re the second rule, isn't that why they have a Yield sign before the California roundabouts?

@stacey_campbell Spouse is never a fan of roundabouts. Spouse is from California.
@stacey_campbell it's not just you
Facebook is evil, designed to create negative engagement for the express purpose of selling us shit. They can't even get a basic connection between Messenger on my phone and my laptop. I just want to connect with my friends who are wondering how I'm doing in the wildfire. Not better, thanks.

"As I understand it, Keith, water extinguishes fire. And I'm seeing a lot of fire here. So a question I have is, why aren't they putting more water on the fire? Let's go live to Brittany, who is standing in an intersection with a LOT of flashing lights behind her....."

It might just be me, but I've found local TV news coverage of the LA fires to be mostly terrible. It's low on information and high on disaster porn/drama, and a fair bit of it has been wildly misleading. They cannot shake their bog standard reporting templates for this critical event.

- On-scene reporters asking people who are literally running around putting out spot fires at their house if they could stop for an interview.
- Picking through the ashes of houses and putting burnt photo albums and other destroyed personal items on camera.
- Certain helicopter reporters yelling mostly low information nonsense for half an hour.
- Obviously wholly unqualified opining on emergency response, and evacuations that has caused massive confusion (no, NBC4, all of LA isn't under a boil-water alert from the DWP).

There's an opportunity here for local TV news to be a useful asset for the community, and they're all too frequently blowing it.

We haven't seen too many "TR*** 2024" signs in our hood, fortunately. More Cybertrucks, actually.
