Dominic Raab: inquiry into conduct expanded to include third complaint. The irony of MoJ officials having to apologise for Raab's behaviour to the Home Office officials who were already suffering under that other bully, Priti Patel! https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/nov/25/dominic-raab-inquiry-conduct-expanded-third-complaint?CMP=share_btn_tw

Sunak criticised for reappointing Jacob Rees-Mogg’s business partner. The fact he has donated £250,000 to the Tory Party I am sure is purely incidental. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/nov/25/sunak-criticised-over-reappointment-of-jacob-rees-mogg-business-partner-dominic-johnson?CMP=share_btn_tw

@lynncunliffe agree completely

As for will Scotland thrive? There are many smaller economies in the EU, & the EU is the far better/democratic union.

And surely, we can discount to some degree the risks and fears? Westminster propaganda is so active in this space, we can't give full value to such fears. Of course there are challenges, but surely not to invalidate Scotland's independence.

End/

...as we know with the brexit ref, politicians encouraging turnout/significance isn't really so important.
But regardless, what is a 'generation'? This surely is key. We may think of it as longer than 8-10 years, but the only definition in a UK legal govt doc is actually 8 years I believe.

So, we're there?

Any other factors?
How about the key decision points back in 2014?

No 1, I think, was EU membership. After #Brexit, does that not make a shorter gap completely defensible?

Easy comparison made between Scotland and Catalonia.
Shall we clear that up? Are their situations very different, or more similar?
And let's be clear: the only real argument against #IndyRef2 is that you can't have Refs every week, again/again.
So, we need to focus on why it may be reasonable to have another Ref in 2023 is not 'again/again'.
Politicians said 'once in a generation', but...

@jdpoc agree completely - disgraceful, and unacceptable

Scottish government can't hold an IndyRef without UK Govt consent.

Imagine if Brexiters were told that the UK couldn't hold a Brexit Referendum without EU's consent.

They'd be apoplectic.

But today they are cheering for 'The Union' and the enforced membership of Scotland against their wishes.
