UX Designer. Voiceover Guy. Sentimental fool. I make stuff.

I spend creative time on DIY electronic projects, graphic design (logos, tshirts, etc), voiceover work, A/V production, web and app design and engineering, digitizing and archiving old media, and learning as many new skills as I possibly can.

@evilchili is this not Sears?
Well that was quite an experiment. How’s things in mastoland?
@ifixcoinops I have that same wire stripper tool and it’s one of the best things I think I’ve ever bought
@nirak I have recommendations if you get into actual budgeting level interest, our usage is still on the lower distance side (no 15mi trips) - which is precisely why we use the ebike instead of a car for those trips
@nirak totally - I charge my ebike off patio solar panel so unless we have a bad winter week it’s off grid

When white is the default, everything else is “identity.”

When whiteness is conflated with competence, everything else is DEI.

Most Black folks already know this. The rest of America is about to get a crash course

@nirak I got one to replace a lot of highly localized car trips, and my wife gradually replaced her acoustic bike usage with it. So it's both for us, which I think is weirder and not in conflict with what you're saying

20 years ago, I happened to be in Vancouver BC on Remembrance Day and I had no idea what it was at first, but the contrast between the US and Canada was never more stark than my experience that day. The vibe was a mix of sorrow and regret—that war is terrible for everyone and should be avoided and we're sorry that anyone died in a horrible conflict.

Then I returned to the US, where it's "Congrats, Veterans!" and a weekend of big sales at stores with little American flags everywhere.

i guess we *are* getting the bell riots, then
