Turing-complete, but still quite erratic

I tried to roll back the install after the fact and it re-installed itself.

Looks like I got re-themed (big whoop, black background) and then had to go back through all the usuall post-update bullshit to disable default cloud crap, ads, AI, one-drive, teams, copilot, etc.

Did anyone notice that Microsoft spent the years telling everyone they needed upgraded hardware to run Window 11, then last month changed their story?

I hit the spacebar up a laptop the other day and somehow accepted an upgrade I never asked for before the screen could wake up. This was a 3 year old PC that had always consistently maintained it did not have the right components to run Win 11.

The primary value of AI to it's investors and developers is that it maximizes corporate impunity. Software agents that make inexplicable decisions cannot be audited or held to account for destroying peoples lives.
Just to clarify: American society is seeing all-time record levels of wealth disparity between rich and poor, and the billionaires would like to see our public assets sold off to the highest bidder.
UPDATE: A massive thanks to everyone who helped out with this ☺️

As a result, my little single-user instance has made contact with 11,274 other instances across the Fedi 😲

So no further boosts needed, really appreciate everyone who helped out 😁

How come?

I recently moved across to my own self-hosted single-user server (using GoToSocial.org). For a bunch of reasons, including visibility across the Fedi, it would really help out.

Scoop:

Sources tell me that the State Department plans to eliminate its only office to counter foreign disinformation, as soon as today, delivering a win to foreign governments like Russia, Iran, and China—and the office's mostly conservative critics.

It's part of a wider right-wing effort, which also includes the targeting of CISA, to go after organizations that study and fight disinformation.

US office that counters foreign disinformation is being eliminated

Conservative critics have long accused the State Department’s Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference Hub of helping to censor the American right.

Here is a definition, in case there was any ambiguity about the current sabotage occurring in the US Government.

Ugggh shit, I seem to have woken up in Karl Rove's wet dream and can't escape....
