I don't know how it took so long for the internet to figure out you can create a bunch of accounts with other people's email addresses just to annoy them. Please stop though 😠
@itsfoss koreader has the most accurate rendering, but holy crap, its UI is weird. If a book looks fine on calibre, I'll use calibre, otherwise koreader
@cassidy And even if *we* don't specifically connect to Threads, people we know who aren't here (yet) might be more likely to join Mastodon if *they* can connect with others on Threads. šŸ¤”

So when I hear, ā€œDefederate from Threads! Don’t let them into the Fediverse! Anyone who federates with them is evil!ā€ I hear, ā€œFuck you, your family, and your friends; you’re not welcome here, and our crusade is more important than both open standards and your personal relationships.ā€

Block Threads all you want but chill tf down demanding other people do.

I’m tired of it. Anyway, I’m done with the Threads meta (heh) for now, and will try to keep future discourse limited to this thread (heh).

The logic behind its existence is sound. You do not want 30 background services in constant contact with 30 different servers because it kills the battery. With Google services there is only one service in contact with one server, but that only works if everyone sends their notifications to the same server. Why they don't just offer end to end encryption is beyond me though.
Twitter just broke their login. I have never used 2fa with twitter, and even if I did, it should only prompt me for a backup code if I lost my authenticator data. Yet this is the screen that appears after entering my password. That's certainly one way to support migration to mastodon...
@kde I'd say make it read-only and for new posts direct people to Lemmy through sticky posts/comments everywhere
@cassidy I misread this and thought it related to the files app where I never use this feature. Count my vote for the file chooser as "often". It's really useful when uploading multiple files from the same directory to websites. I don't want to navigate to it every time.
@ariadne you can substitute FOSS for anything here. Harming anyone will always damage whatever it is they contribute to society. This pretty much boils down to "don't harm people or support people who harm others"
