I was the victim of an extremely clever card fraud/social engineering hack.

Well, partly a victim since I managed to stop it.

I was called by my bank, as they wanted to “verify some suspect transactions on my account”.

Then things got weird…

Got an email from HR announcing their Hybrid policy just after close of business today. 30 days to start coming back to an office 2 days per week, or "request" a revocable exception.

I miss working with people, and I hacked my commute with biking, any outcome is fine, but the tone of the communication stings. I didn't see any discussion of the presence of air quality monitoring or circulation upgrades.

FYI, when a website erases your text that you just spent an hour writing, you can use this little trick to recover it 99% of the time:

1. find the firefox pid

$ pgrep -l firefox

2. attach gdb to firefox and dump its core

$ sudo gdb <pid>
gcore firefox.dump
<this takes awhile>
quit
<firefox dies>

3. find your lost text in the coredump

$ strings firefox.dump | grep "a unique word/sentence from ur text"
