One new magic item for use in your #TTRPG game every day!

Check https://omiad.eu for occasional background info links and more info!

Thought up with #DnD, specifically #DnD5e in mind, but feel free to ask me how it'd work in other systems.

Feel free to use and remix in games; let me know how it went! If you want to use an item for anything else let me know and we'll figure it out!

A new purpose Last year this website hosted a treasure trove of fantastical magical items. The coming time the site will instead be used to showcase new exciting projects created under the ‘Buried Aeons’ umbrella. I’ll be updating the website and maybe the archives a bit, but all the items will remain where they are. So please keep […] https://omiad.eu/2025/10/a-new-purpose/ tegories%
A new purpose – Buried Aeons

It's been a quiet few months here on One Magic Item A Day. In the meantime I've been working on some small projects (like one-shots and NPCs) but nothing really worth sharing I think.

But recently I've started DMing the #DnD5e campaign Turn of Fortune's Wheel, and based on tips I got online I've edited the backstory and a few of the early encounters.

Maybe that's interesting for others as well so I think I'll post that here, see if anyone agrees! I'm aiming for somewhere next week.

K’nea-per-djee These crispy treats are usually baked as a festive family activity; they are made from a thin sheet of sweet dough that’s rolled up into a cookie cylinder. You can fill them with all kinds of creamy goodness and covered them in icing and sprinkles. Usually they are handed out during the end of the […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/knea-per-djee/ tegories%

Egg Knocc The egg is decorated festively: it’s painted red and green with white zig zag lines and dots. The vilagers told you you use it in the local festivities: you all run around a huge pine tree that’s decorated with streamers, balls and lights. You throw the egg at people’s head while screaming egg knock! If […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/egg-knocc/ tegories%

Trident of the Tides Merfolk priests often use these tridents in ceremonies, but they are also quite handy in combat. While in or near the sea they can display their full power, though this doesn’t mean they are useless elsewhere. It’s a +2 Trident, that can cast Tidal Wave at will as long as a sufficiently large body of […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/trident-of-the-tides/ tegories%

Anchovy’s Anchor Pin The first mate of the Mackerel Pirates might’ve had a funny nickname, but his fighting skills were nothing to sneeze at. He had multiple tricks up his sleeve like this pin: at first glance it was just a flashy silver anchor pin that he wore on his shirt. But in combat he could remove it […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/anchovys-anchor-pin/ tegories%

Vento D’Oro This is the famous ‘Golden Wind’ sword, belonging to the legendary swordsman Ruscello Balena. He was said to augment his brilliant swordsmanship with all kinds of magical flourishes, including those of his favorite sword. He could nick or slightly slice an object with it, and by doing so imbue it with life for a certain […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/vento-doro/ tegories%

Thrifty Purse You found this little old light brown soft leather purse lying around in “an alley”. Sure a bandit had just had it in his pocket but it fell out right? Strange thing is, no matter how many coins you take out, it seems to always have few in it? It won’t make you a rich […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/thrifty-purse/ tegories%

Stalwart Stone Statuette This stone statuette, imbued with ancient dwarven magic, shows how crafty even the earliest dwarven clans were. It can be used in a pinch, for example an action, to turn yourself completely into stone. Rendering all kinds on negative effects or damage rendered upon you absolutely useless. As an action your can use the statuette […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/stalwart-stone-statuette/ tegories%

The Life-for-a-Knife Originally this brutal instrument was apparently called the Lemmet Sangrendre, but when you took it from the local gang of bandit “immortals” they had been using it for some 50 years among themselves and had been calling it “The Life-for-a-Knife”. The trick is that it’s even not that strong of a magic item so the […] … https://omiad.eu/dnd/the-life-for-a-knife/ tegories%
