Jenga and the Meaning of Life

A philosophy webcomic about the inevitable anguish of living a brief life in an absurd world. Also Jokes

If it behooves you, instead of thinking any more about Twitter—hit us with some PDFs, some incomprehensible sociology, a fact about your town, some poetry no one cares about, political theory that will never land, obscure social history, climate links, math things, some tech so obscure 20 people use it. We want your inner noise. Just push the gas on your own ephemeralism and launch us into the future.

Oh, wow, Tom Lehrer has released all of his songs into the public domain. Apparently also his website will shut down "at some date in the not too distant future" so now's a good time to download directly.

"In short, I no longer retain any rights to any of my songs.
So help yourselves, and don’t send me any money."

Reading the first chapter reminded me how much I enjoy philosophy written with stylistic élan, even though I admire (and often want) greater clarity and logical formulations.

(Though De Beauvoir seems to me to be particularly good at ‘flourishes’ which catch the particular line of an argument that others would have to trace more pedantically…).

Just had a really enjoyable first reading group session on De Beauvoir's Ethics of Ambiguity, thank to @jana_bacevic - lots of interesting moments in the text highlighted and questions raised...

I'd be interested in any reflections on how to make #weeknotes work well, from those who've tried them. Inc.:

- the most helpful balance of factual/reflective content
- (whether?/) how best to share them

I’m getting a bit tired of #worldcup commentators talking as if there’s only one player on each team: it wasn’t just Messi v Modric tonight and it feels disrespectful to the other players to talk as if it was.
Pondering about #artsfunding, I just thought the phrase "we don't just need a #levellingup of funding, but a levelling up of the mind" - and though it makes me want to go and take a bath (!), I think the sentiment is true...

Out late, discussing #poetry, #pandemic and #politics and - yes! - this is what I needed.

(@petenothing’s books sound excellent too…).
