urknall statt kickoff im okr solar system ;)
In #Agile conferences I mostly meet Coaches, Agile People, and Product / Tech People. Almost never C-Level - decision makers, whose involvement actually make it or break it, when it comes to all the topics we talk about in these conferences.
Which conferences are the executives, C-Levels attending? How / Where do they inform themselves?
What is it they are looking for that agile conferences don’t provide?
Cansel is a true authority on OKRs.
I love her prezs. Structured and clear!
Go watch Cansel at a conference if you can!

Don’t cascade OKRs
Build a solar system
(see Lean Agile Scotland talk)
Provide focus
Avoid dependencies
Enable collaboration
Don’t force into OKR: let them choose, let teams decide how OKR can help them
Don’t copy the org chart on OKRs!
-> interdependent OKR
Creates more dependencies
Tons of sync meetings
-> slows down
Cascading / inheriting OKRs
comes from a famous OKR book
Slows down,
hinder motivation,
no room for creativity
Most orgs do OKR to engage staff. Don’t cascade, people will hate OKRs
Strategy is creating competitive advantage solving problems of chosen customer segments and leveraging opportunities in a specific market
ORKs implement the strategy!
Example of good OKR
I want to be seen as an OKR expert
(on the right are KPIs, not to be confused with key results)

It is not enough to write great outcomes. It does not help without a great strategy behind.
OKR are not your strategy!!!

- direction/priorities are always changing
- conflicting priorities
- setting OKRs takes too much time
