I kinda forget Mastodon Exists…
A friend attending #ICML just sent me a photo of this front runner for best poster award.
@munchkinstein laziness is the great demotivator…
@ohmz @munchkinstein @ohmz I suppose what I want is a soft follow. There are some people who I want to see all their content, there are other who I want to remember who they are, but I’m not interested in the firehouse. And I want to categorise them by why I followed them.

@munchkinstein @ohmz yeah it’s one of those features which I think I’d find useful, but realistically, I only use a laptop when I’m doing something I should be focusing on. So having ultimate mastodon UX on a laptop is counterproductive.

For lists to be useful I’d need them on mobile, where the real estate makes them less usable. It’s a quandary.

What Twitter did was stochastically give you popular posts from your lists, that was nice.

@munchkinstein @ohmz lists weren’t supported in the first client I used, and were poorly supported in the second. I need to go though and categorise folk, which was slow the last time I tried as it seemed to invoke API calls for each change. It’s probably better now.

@munchkinstein @ohmz yeah, it was more segmenting my content. And my attention. So it’s easier to find game dev content on gamedev.place, there’s more writers on wandering.shop, more tech people on Hachyderm.io and the .scot one is better for finding local people. (I’m also on an instance for tech people, and one that specialises in shit posts)

There are some interests I only want to dive into occasionally.

I think I might consolidate here? I dunno, might move to one of the other instances I'm on.

My experiment in sharding my interest across multiple masto instances has just meant I don't check masto because it's a chore.
