Sorry it took so long to resolve. 
All admins were busy with other things and notifications being broken also meant we didn't get the mentions pinging us about the issue.
Monitoring didn't trigger because all API endpoints and workers were working fine. We'll see if we can maybe check worker logs for unusually high numbers of exceptions automatically.
Due to a mishap while installing an update yesterday, home timelines and notifications weren't updating for the last several hours.
We've fixed the problem and the missing posts should arrive now. 
The issue has been resolved and image uploads work again.
Posts from remote servers should also start loading in, but it will take ±30 minutes until the whole queue has been processed. 🐌
We are currently looking into an issue with image uploads and remote media caching on ohai.social.
As a side effect this has also severely backlogged our background workers and is causing remote posts to show up with substantial delay.

ohai.social was unavailable earlier today due to a server issue that we have now fixed. Sorry for the hassle.
Posts from other servers written during the downtime are still being delivered and it will take a while until we are fully caught up again.
Thanks for your patience!We're currently debugging an issue that has caused some posts from other instances (as well as things like link previews) to only show up with some delay.
We've increased capacity on the background workers and any missing posts should start appearing within the next minutes.
We're also aware of an unrelated issue with the full text search that we're in the process of repairing.
