Math and Computer Science, interested in algebraic geometry/number theory/functional programming/nix&nixos/computer network/souls games. Love music in my spare time.

Statements like “there are too many people in the world” or “people are self-destructive” implicitly position the speaker as being outside the community of humans.

It’s a smug, self-satisfied way of saying “the problem is other people but not me.”

You’re not stuck in traffic; you *are* traffic.

The thing people don’t often understand about creative jobs is that absolutely loads of us are in them with no desire to be ‘famous’ or in the top 1% of earners - the dream is to make a living wage from doing something we love. Not all musicians want to be Green Day, plenty would be more than happy just being able to pay their bills.
Associative Schemes

We state results from noncommutative deformation theory of modules over an associative $k$-algebra $A,$ $k$ a field, necessary for this work. We define a set of $A$-modules $\operatorname{aSpec}A$ containing the simple modules, whose elements we call spectral, for which there exists a topology where the simple modules are the closed points. Applying results from deformation theory we prove that there exists a sheaf of associative rings $\mathcal O_X$ on the topological space $X=\operatorname{aSpec}A$ giving it the structure of a pointed ringed space. In general, an associative variety $X$ is a ringed space with an open covering $\{U_i=\operatorname{aSpec}{A_i}\}_{i\in I}.$ When $A$ is a commutative $k$-algebra, $\operatorname{aSpec}A\simeq\spec A,$ and so the category $\cat{aVar}_k$ of associative varieties is an extension of the category of varieties $\cat{Var}_k,$ i.e. there exists a faithfully full functor $I:\cat{Var}_k\rightarrow\cat{aVar}_k.$ Our main result says that any associative variety $X$ is $\operatorname{aSpec}(\mathcal O_X(X))$ for the $k$-algebra $\mathcal O_X(X),$ and so any study of varieties can be reduced to the study of the associative algebra $\mathcal O_X(X).$

I met someone last night who is an artist (gonna remain super vague about which kind) whose work I really admire. He’s exceptional, and he had the status of ‘famous person’ to me so I was nervous about meeting him. But we hung out and swapped stories about making money off art and v quickly he was like ‘omg I can’t believe you get to do your art full time.’ It absolutely shocked me that this person at the top of their game only barely covers their rent, no bills. Support creators innit ❤️

So. Here we go. In no order, just listing off what I loved. With so much more to discover.

I will be frank. The amount of insecure, delusional, racist white men who have blocked ME for calling out their racism in the last 5 days is disgusting and delusional. Block lists will not help with racist reply guys. You holding them accountable might, however.

This is how I felt in 2016 when first introduced to this place and it’s proving itself to be true. Intentionally being violent towards Black people while touting fake diversity. No one will ever like mastodon except tech dudebros.

2/ #Harris for President responds to 👆🏼above Trump BS:

"Donald #Trump is hateful, despicable, and should not be our president.

"He roots against America. He insults America. Why would we want to put him in charge of America?

"Donald Trump thinks he can score points with Jewish voters by denigrating them. He is wrong."

@gurkan Praise nix!
I've switched to wildcard certificates with DNS validation. Everything worked amazing..
#nixos saves another day I guess

I have this slide showing the 101(!) operating systems people have reported #curl to run on.

I now have a customer call scheduled about porting it to a 102nd...
