Today’s #MARCHintosh special: I finally get to see what it is like to use a vintage Mac. The background I’ve whipped up sums up my experience with it so far.
I thought the gimmick was “whatever happens on iPhone stays on iPhone;” why do they want me to do spring cleaning on my iCloud Storage?

Say I want to insert logo and favicon path variables into the file (which I had already done with LocalSettings.php). Would that mean that I would have a custom logo and tab icon for my wiki?
It turns out that LocalSettings.php is not the only configuration file being used by FreedomBox (if that is even the case).
Two more files exist in different folders; in them, uploads are indeed enabled.
For some reason, the logo path variable is located in the file that will be overwritten with each upgrade and “should not be modified by the system administrator.”
I might make this just a testing ground for the various software packages if this is the case...

It seems I’ve hit a snag.
Image uploads were supposed to have been enabled since version 0.36.0 (I’m running version 23.21 with MediaWiki 1.39.5), but “wgEnableUploads” in LocalSettings.php has the default value of “false”.
#AskFedi To any administrator who set up their wiki on FreedomBox, is this normal behavior? If not, should I do something to remedy it?

After much faffing about, I set up my own #MediaWiki instance. It’s not public yet (assuming my server’s IP address is not public) and it’ll take a while for it to be to my liking, but I suppose that’s the fun part of it all. #FreedomBox
It has arrived. #FreedomBox

I don’t know if something happened on #Steam or if it was due to my mouse not being connected, but I had to sign back in to my own account this morning. For me, this meant having to reset my password because I had forgotten it.

I’ve usually written these down on a paper notebook, but apparently not the one for Steam!
All is said and done; though I didn’t think this was what I had to do after waking up.

Louis Rossman uploaded a video about an absurd flaw in some iOS devices relating to the microphone flex cable. It also showed where to access panic logs.

For the hell of it, I decided to see what my device had logged. It’s scary to see logs named “Analytics_Never” - let alone what’s being logged and to what extent.

I could say “a giant meatball is falling from the sky” many times in a single month, and this thing can remember each time I’ve said it and when I’ve said it.

#Apple

This is what happened when I opened the App Store this morning.

All I did was that I tried to install a new modem but I couldn’t activate it so I swapped it back out with the old one.

Even then, no other device has reacted this badly.

I dismissed the pop up but I was still able to use the App Store, so those that aren’t tech savvy would be even more confused as to why Google won’t let them access it.
