Wikimedia: un ver JavaScript auto-propagatif a modifié des scripts et vandalisé Meta‑Wiki (23 min)

La Wikimedia Foundation a fait face à un incident de sécurité impliquant un ver JavaScript auto‑propagatif qui a modifié des scripts utilisateurs et vandalisé des pages sur Meta‑Wiki, entraînant une restriction temporaire des éditions puis un retour à la normale une fois le code malicieux supprimé. 🐛 Le ver aurait été déclenché après l’exécution d’un script malveillant hébergé sur la Wikipédia en russe (User:Ololoshka562/test.js, mis en ligne en mars 2024). Selon l’historique, il a été exécuté pour la première fois par un compte employé Wikimedia lors de tests de fonctionnalités de scripts utilisateurs (intention inconnue). Le code injectait un « loader » dans les fichiers User:/common.js (persistance utilisateur) et, si les droits le permettaient, dans MediaWiki:Common.js (persistance globale), assurant une auto‑propagation à chaque chargement du script global. ⚙️

This is for a local startup business that wants an internal wiki (asked for mediawiki) and the ability to have more php-mariadb (mysql) custom web apps.
Why a GUI for a server? Just in case it is needed. I am not going to be doing all the work and I want it as easy as possible to use. Linux Mint Debian Edition is a good fit, as then I can just treat it like a Debian server. That's similar to a lot of the other Linux consulting I do.
I have a hard disk drive for versioned backup. Configured Time Shift to back up everything to it. Seems to work well, as I can browse the Timeshift snapshot in the file browser.
I also set up MediaWiki for them. Learned a few things there. I had to set a root mariadb password. I customized it with a logo and also made some other adjustments to the MediaWiki LocalSettings.php file.
