After years of wanting to move, I'm now finally arranging things. Last year has been filled with grief and I was hoping that this would allow me to move on.
But what seemed to be a joyous step, is quickly turning into another source for grief. The place I'm moving away from is now speaking to me, singing a nostalgic tune.
I'm doing well but I wish for rest and belonging.

I have a more positive interpretation. Where us adults can stay trapped in our own (over)thinking, there is an inner child that is earnestly wanting and able to connect.

For some reason "AI is just like watching Netflix" is back in my feeds so I took that as a sign to update my data tracking for Netflix. The company's energy use rose 1% from 2021 to 2024.
Compare that to:
Google: 71%
Nvidia: 88%
Meta: 96%
Microsoft: 119%
Where are all the multi-gigawatt, tens-of-megatonnes gas-fired data centres being proposed by Netflix? Are governments frantically rushing fast-tracking laws for video streaming?

It’s nice to see new neighbours move into the Fediverse. It feels unwelcoming to see people immediately interview them about the purity of their intentions. Or telling them You’re Doing It Wrong. They've just arrived on a journey away from Big Tech. Maybe they'd prefer to be offered a seat and a cup of tea.
Ik liep al een hele tijd rond met het gevoel dat ik mijn frustratie over AI van me af moest schrijven en er iets over moest publiceren (een blog, een lijst, ...)
Dat heb ik nu eindelijk gedaan!
Omdat ik het idee van @cgsunit zo geweldig vond, heb ik haar zine genaamd "Why GenAI Sucks And You Should Not Use It" in het Nederlands vertaald en de tekst op mijn website gezet.
De wereld in één keer verbeteren lukt niet, dus dan maar in hele kleine stapjes ☺️
