I'm a math/engineering/compsci teacher; a partisan of peace and pi; using he/him pronouns. I have two mastodon accounts: this one will be focused more on local #baltimore #maryland issues, politics, making the world a better place, etc. My alt account, linked below (same username at mathstodon.xyz) will be more focused on math, engineering, computing, and teaching those subjects.

Book 41: Little Brother, by Cory Doctorow (a re-read, 4th? time)
Book 40: The Woman in Suite 11, by Ruth Ware. Excellent, Ware remains one of my top three mystery/thriller writers currently writing (along with Laura Lippman and Sara Paretsky).
Book 39: The Woman in Cabin 10, by Ruth Ware. A re-read of this book, published in 2016 (and which I had read back then), in preparation for reading the sequel, just-published: The Woman in Suite 11, which I plan to read next.
Book 38: The Last Room on the Left, by Leah Konen

Escape room: Bookstore. The doors are unlocked and accessible. The path is clear. There is absolutely nothing preventing you from leaving.

You have one hour.

Book 37: The Housemaid, by Freida McFadden

"Rounded Flower Bed," Claude Monet, 1876.

Book 36: Kill Your Darlings, by Peter Swanson

What are the best books you've read in the first half of 2025 ?

I read over 100 books so far this year (because I'm out of control) and here are my top 5!

Gliff -- Ali Smith
Woodworking - Emily St James
The Hymn to Dionysus -- Natasha Pulley
One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This -- Omar El Akkad
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter -- Stephen Graham Jones

'On November 28th, 2012, Randall Munroe published an xkcd comic that was a calendar in which the size of each date was proportional to how often each date is referenced by its ordinal name (…) "In months other than September, the 11th is mentioned substantially less often than any other date. It's been that way since long before 9/11 and I have no idea why." After digging into the raw data, I believe I have figured out why.'
