i think meatwad should be the next president
tomorrow im gonna try the Affinity v2 apps and see if they’re working because that’s probably the last big hurdle to moving my primary desktop to Linux. if that’s the case i can leave all my gaming up to dedicated ‘retro’ builds, like this ‘Windows 10’ system
just to try it out, I threw CachyOS on the SSD, installed ‘gaming packages’, logged into Steam and three minutes later I’d downloaded and started a 20GB Windows native AAA game with no other drama
22h and no faults, i think shes ready to be built
@fathermcgruder depends on your configuration, really, if theres enough air intake to wick away the heat, and how hard you’re running them. they were designed mostly for older systems where intake was usually only a single 80mm fan on the basement of the tower. if im really upset about it i’ll just switch to a different, shorter set later.
an unfortunate side effect of using a big stupid cooler was this minor conflict with the RAM’s ridiculous oversized heat spreaders. not the end of the world.
getting back to this today. i gutted and deep cleaned the system days ago. here i’ve just affixed the new HSF module (Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 V3) and getting ready to bench test.
most people forgot that little donnie was inconsolable because tuvok couldn’t go home, never mind that might have been the finest moment of television
