很难解释这幅画里这种清透明亮的色彩里透出的无望、克制、虚幻但优美的爱意有多触动我……
更喜欢的是这幅画的视角，女子成了我们投射凝视的主体，我们的视线穿过她的背影，成为了她的视线，最后停留在她的笔尖，望向那个注定消失的爱人和夏天一样短暂的热烈恋情。
就是说，在这幅画里，女性竟然成了“描绘者”，而不是像通常那样作为被描摹的“念想”与“风景”。
查了一下才知道，这幅画的主题实际上是化用古希腊学者老普林尼《自然史》中所描绘的“绘画的起源”的传说故事，将其改为了画家本人擅长的中世纪背景。
原本的故事是，说科林斯城邦中有个陶工的女儿爱上了一个年轻男子。当男子离开这个城邦时，她则在墙上描下了男子的侧影，这就是最早的绘画的诞生。
因为她是陶工 Butades 之女，所以这个故事一般也直接被称为 Butades 或者 Dibutades。17世纪到19世纪的绘画中这个主题都很流行。
