Does anyone know a museum or other institution that would be willing to take this large vintage railway wheel(?) press? It's marked "Chambersburg Engineering Co., No. 863", and a long time ago it was used to help maintain rail cars at the Port of San Francisco. Unfortunately it's going to the scrap yard this week because no museums we've tried are willing to come haul it away. boosts appreciated.

edit: Sorry folks, there was less time than I thought. It's already out the door this morning 😔

I'm making a solid oak tabletop for a friend. possibly the "nicest" / most professional-looking thing I've made so far! this thing is big, flat, shiny, smooth and pleasant to the touch, and weighs almost 50 pounds :o

been doing a lot of wood shop stuff lately. metalworking is what i ultimately want to be doing, but wood tools are cheaper and easier to accommodate in a garage, and we have a LOT of wood-based projects for the new house that need doing.

pictured is today's makeshift, cobbled-together, single-use wood lathe. there's a ~secret project~ chucked up in it right now that I've been trying to make progress on for YEARS. finally getting somewhere :)

this baby gets so absolutely blissed out on brushies 🥰
