I do believe the "AI" more LLM really... evangelists are often far too optimistic, and ignore real issues (energy costs, copyright violations...).

But I do agree these LLM tools do some remarkable things. They are much better at support than companies are for their own products. I imagine/hope companies will use LLMs to get way better, while avoiding problems...

It is amazing what can already be done. Sure without critical thinking skills using LLMs is risky.

I have cash available to buy at good prices. I do want to keep a significant amount of cash as I am worried about the global economy in the short term.

And since stocks are so highly priced in general I am fine having money on the sidelines. If I lose out on some gains I am fine with that. The money I make on the money I do have invested will make plenty (just less than I could have being fully invested).

I added a tiny amount to $MELI today @ $1,668. It is just such a great company long term. Now 3% of my portfolio, about 5th in the portfolio ($VWO and $ABBV are also about the same weight).

There are certainly worries about the global economy exacerbated by the USA and Israels latest actions. But I am willing to buy great long term companies.

My cash position is much higher than normal (and has been for maybe 2 or 3 years). I have cash for expenses for years without forcing me to sell. Also >

I bought more $SE today ($77.05, low of the day, by chance not skill) after it cratered on very good (in my opinion) quarterly report. Missing the quarter earnings estimate by a tiny amount is not a big deal to me.

I guess the "issue" was lower growth projected for 2026 that people hoped for. I don't put much weight in estimates for SE (or most companies).

I also bought some more $MELI today ($1680s). Also donated a bit more $AAPL today.

#investing #stocks #MELI

I added a bit more $MELI (@ 1685) on the drop this morning after earnings were released. Great report again. Short term hit to profits is small, while growth remains great and cash flow does also.

Great management continues to prioritize long term success.

I had actually sold some of $CRWD and $NET many months ago at much higher prices than they are at now. But it was small amounts (less than 10% of my holdings I believe). That is basically what I would likely rebuy at some point if they keep falling.

I really don't see how it makes sense to have such huge declines in $CRWD $NET (and others, though some may deserve it) due to "AI" fears.

I still think both companies have extremely strong long term positions that are difficult to replace.

$CRWD and $NET are so richly valued that even after the declines I can certainly understand the feeling that they are still overvalued. It is very hard to judge what the current value should be. I am not adding yet, but I may (I bought both at lower prices)

:-) after hours market being crazy again...

A few minutes after I posted that $GOOGL is up $20 (6%). Conference call just started so investors must have really liked the start...

Alphabet $googl announced great earnings again. Huge growth in cloud.
2026 CapEx guide ($175 billion to $185 billion) is 50% higher than already gigantic estimates.

I can understand investors worried about the CapEx. Even with great results stock down a bit after hours. My guess is it will be higher in a few days (maybe even tomorrow). While the CapEx is insane Alphabet seems in about the best shape to pay for it compared to others with huge CapEx. And likely make a lot of $$$$, of course...

“We’ve built this horrifying Orwellian surveillance industry over the last 10 to 20 years, and now ICE is buying access to all of it,” EFF’s Cooper Quintin told Minnesota’s Sahan Journal. https://sahanjournal.com/immigration/ice-surveillance-technology-facial-recognition-phones-minnesota/
ICE isn’t just tracking your phone. The surveillance technology goes further than that.

Federal immigration agencies are using a vast surveillance network in Minnesota – from facial recognition technology to ‘stingrays’ that collect data by impersonating cell phone towers.
