I can't get normal people to join the #Fediverse, and I have to #rant about it.

When
#Twitter fell, the Fediverse essentially was #Mastodon, but Mastodon then had a repelling #onboarding, virtually no #discoverability, no #unique selling point, a content warning #harassment culture, and a terrible user experience due to that repulsive #federation concept and some horrible apps, plus a freakingly nerdish #exclusionary community.

And when
#Reddit fell, so many other projects were on the edge of adopting #ActivityPub that the time when people associated the Fediverse with Mastodon was already about to be over for good. And that made it even worse. The #userexperience became a total crap, and the #servers were all bullshit software and #adminhell, and there was nothing left that the upcoming #Meta engagement could destroy. That's where we're now.

In
https://www.wired.com/story/tiktok-platforms-cory-doctorow we all read about the "#enshittification" of #Amazon, #Facebook, #Google, #TikTok, #Instagram, and I absolutely agree. Those platforms are "terminally enshittified". But the claim that the Fediverse as it is now could become an alternative to that is absolutely ridiculous.

Maybe some normal people eventually will join the Fediverse whatever that will mean. But then we'll have crap software, admin hell
and enshittification. And we most certainly won't remember Mastodon.

As I was saying, this is just a rant. And I'm in the Fediverse, because I'm not normal people. Nobody wants normal people. And there are people that still use Facebook or even Twitter. That's not normal, either. That's pure
#perversion. Maybe there are no normal people. Or maybe we are the normal people, after all.

But normal or not. The Fediverse has to substantially change to become an actual option for everyone. But I think it’s about to do just that. End of rant.
Hm, the #Fediverse has some potential for #improvement:

I found the
#Lemmy community https://lemmy.ml/c/daredevil on https://lemmyverse.net/communities and wanted to comment on the contained post https://lemmy.ml/post/1175422 in which somebody asked

"Hello fellow Daredevil fans! When did you become a fan of the character? I started around 2002 when the Bendis/Maleev comic series was coming out monthly around the time of the less-than-loved Affleck film. The character has been one of my favorites ever since."

So to answer I viewed that post through my Lemmy instance as
https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/83260 and commented there, but all I got was a spinning wheel. I didn't work.

The community appears as the group
https://mastodon.social/@[email protected] on #Mastodon, but the contained post from @[email protected] isn't found in Mastodon search (although the user is). So no luck here, too.

Same with
#Calckey. I can't find the post. And with #kbin.social I even got a "500 Server error" when searching for it.

This is what I wanted to answer:

I became a
#Daredevil fan more than 50 years ago. John #Romita (who just recently died aged 93) did Daredevil before he was asked by Stan Lee to take over Spider-Man, and I guess, it's Romita's drawings that got me to crave for the comics. Later the story got more and more interesting, too. The #Affleck film has a Director's cut that I own on DVD, and it's quite good. (It's very different from the theatrical cut.) I also saw the #Netflix show, of course, but it's still the #Comics that interest me most. These days I have a Marvel Ultimate subscription, and I often read old Daredevil comics on the iPad."

I have so many questions.

Is the
#Fensterfreitag only on #Mastodon or is it in the entire #Fediverse?

Is it in
#Germany, only, or is there an international #WindowFriday, too?

Is the photo supposed to be taken today or can it be a few weeks old?

Does it have to be directly posted here, or can it be a link to a web page with that photo?

What happens if I
#quotepost on #Calckey? Is it properly resolved by Mastodon clients?

Is the photo from the linked web page shown? Or the photo from the quoted post?

I just have to test: So here's a link to
#ipernity in a quote post on Calkkey: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/rumpel/51938200

Hi. This ain't really an #introduction post. I'm just here, because @atomicpoet has written about #Calckey in https://mastodon.social/@atomicpoet/110317691654195327 and now I have to look around first, because I got no clue yet why I would want to have this Calckey account in the fediverse when I already have the #Mastodon account @nnz .
