VM (Vicky) Brasseur

I don't often put work stuff here, but it has come to my attention we may have a few spare seats at an upcoming Sydney event on 26 March

If you happen to be interested in free and open source enterprise automation software, then I could probably swing you an invite.

As a bonus, I'll be speaking too!

Lemme know via DM and give me your email address and I'll send an invite.

There will also be a live stream if you're NOT in Sydney, or would just prefer not to mingle indoors in person.

Feel free to share or boost if you think others in your graph might appreciate it :)

What does the fight for digital rights look like in the age of AI? We have some thoughts: https://digitalrightswatch.org.au/2025/03/12/the-fight-for-digital-rights-in-the-age-of-ai/

The Australian government is aiming to deliver a National AI Capability Plan by the end of 2025. In the meantime, we have the AI ethics principles published in 2019, a Voluntary AI Safety Standard published by the National AI Centre, and a set of proposed mandatory guardrails.

With the announcement of The Stargate Project in the US, Trump reversing Biden's executive order on "Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence", and the UK backing away from similar commitments, we are gravely concerned that AI is developing without adequate governance and protections.

All technology is political, and in an environment of growing authoritarianism, we cannot rely on the benevolence of governments and Big Tech companies to adhere to volunteer guardrails. We need robust AI regulation and meaningful privacy reform.

Thank you for presenting.
We all need a bit of a #hopepunk in our lives.
Anyone know what CMS the BOM is on, or Trove?

@kattekrab No less than 4 separate people have told me I should meet you and how awesome you are. (No lies detected)

I feel I should just start carrying my fan club membership card. Because us fans should have a way to easily identify each other.

But apparently you are famous. Or maybe infamous. 😉 Thank you for all the work you put in across so many communities!
