It also includes songs about ICE agents' perceived masculinity issues and new songs protesting ICE. https://medium.com/@norikomanabe/ice-protest-songs-and-chants-minnesota-general-strike-january-23-and-beyond-b76358a569ca?source=friends_link&sk=4a1ac025ae4aee44c267164bb5f022f3
I've written this blogpost on protest chants, transcribed, from protests since Renee Good's killing by ICE. At the end, there are two songs written about ICE. https://medium.com/@norikomanabe/ice-out-for-good-protests-january-8-11-2026-7bb8daed7e7e
I made this video on the relationship between Japanese language & Western-based musical styles for the French Society for Japanese Studies. It looks at how word and stress systems interact w/ musical rhetoric and how gendered language contributes to narrative. Examples include English, French, and Japanese versions of "Save the Last Dance for Me" and Japanese rap, incl. women rappers Coma-chi and Awich. There are timestamps in the description if you want to skip around. https://youtu.be/IqQ0Iy_7dIQ
