@Niall Jottacloud is good (Norway) and covers photos and files pretty well. For more comprehensive photos, immich is amazing, but not turnkey and requires tech knowledge to install.
@davep ovh.com - they are based in France, so .fr should be OK 😅

@Mer__edith Seems to me that the crucial thing is gradual degradation rather than all or nothing.

So the base line is basic messaging running on the good ol' internet with no cloud providers; then actual instant messaging; then audio; then 1:1 video with jittering; then quality 1:1 video; then multiple video. This way if AWS (or whoever) fails, the service degrades, but is still usable in some form.

No idea if Signal already does this, but that was the whole point of the Internet wasn't it?

@CoolSWEng Maybe they are also missing their Blackberry? I've driven a Model 3 for 6 years and the touch screen works just fine, though I hardly use it as there are physical controls for all the essential stuff.
@dangillmor HumHub may be worth a look, it has a wide range of features and is well maintained.

@marcusjenkins thanks for the reminder, I've also donated now
I just donated to #wikipedia, because #SpaceKaren doesn't want me to.
@randahl although I agree with the point you're making, better to be clear what statistics actually are. Tesla do have a point in that they have far more automated cars and it should be considered in proportion to ALL crashes. The reports should continue so lessons can be learned, but always be presented in context. Disclosure - I drive a Model 3 but treat Autopilot as nothing more than cruise control.
