Remember 2016, Hillary Clinton’s emails? Day and night, nonstop, she was a danger to the country, a danger to national security, an intelligence risk, every network, every paper, every time I turned on a TV or clicked on a link. That GOP that was so concerned with this risk now stands in lockstep behind a Speaker who just turned over 41,000 of insurrection footage to Fox, including vital security measures and escape routes, that are on now far less protective. Next attempt will use it all.

I have an old CD album. My kids (31,28) were awed yet mystified to find cooleyhighharmony amidst the pages. I was pregnant with 31 when I got it. Months later in those almost predawn hours when she wouldn’t sleep, Motownphilly running on MTV like a 60s era AM radio hit was what got me through every night. But the surprise on their faces to discover this unexpected mom? I knew that surprise from childhood, but now I was mom, and yet a grown up little girl. And I never felt more like my mother.

So the Russians are banning books about a Ukrainian history in Ukraine and in sun libraries even burning all books in that language. Book banning? Erasing culture? Why did I think of Ron DeSantis? The ugly substance of his ideas are the same. It’s just that he’s (probably) several decades behind in implementation.

So before I can watch something on TV now I have to track down where it’s streaming, subscribe to the stream without commercials or watch something designed to be watched straight through interrupted by commercials and more. I know somebody who started watching TV on a 19” black and white set with 3 networks, and damn, that damned if that doesn’t sound good to me now.
