The fact that it’s the husband suing illustrates how these abortion laws were never not about “protecting life” but rather about power and control and domination and abuse https://twitter.com/TexasTribune/status/1634282727821266963

@rbreich I think if they can get this one to the SCOTUS it’s an opportunity to make them say out loud who they know owns the uterus, and that the constitution somehow gives The State the authority to compel a person to let someone else live off of their body. I don’t know how they would word it but I think that’s the argument that needs to be hashed out among them. They’ll be quoting more witch burners from England than stenographers can keep up with.
@rbreich I love Joshua’s content and wish he’d post that much on Mastodon.

People who are out for revenge for perceived grievances want revenge laws.

It's becoming more and more obvious that, as power and income become more evenly distributed, men, most especially white marginally educated men, are resorting to abusive and lethal domination tactics.

It's like shouting when traveling in a country whose language they don't speak.

@rbreich His actions reveal an American cultural taboo: Husbands have more legal rights than wives, especially in Southern states that automatically defer to them in all matters of justice. For decades, American culture pushes the independent women's rights narrative without really delving into complexities of male-female marital relationship.
