Noooooo! This whole time I thought I had a MySQL database, but once I opened up the hood, I see it’s MariaDB which won’t be supported by Ghost. I’m on shared hosting, so can’t do anything about it.

Welp, couldn’t say I didn’t try. 🥲

Super duper close to getting it to work! Got as far as getting Ghost to install but it won’t start because it doesn’t see the MySQL database I made for it. I have always been more of an end-user tech than server side, so lots of learning going on. #AnotherWildFridayNight

Was about to install @ghost.org on my server, but I didn’t realize it would be an adventure to get it to work on shared hosting. Let’s see how long I’ll try to get it to work before giving up and going the DigitalOcean droplet route.

If anyone happens to see this and has any tips, I’d love some!

@bucachowchow I wonder if it’s due to people trying to divest from Meta apps. Plus, Instagram changed the profile grid from square to portrait so I think that riled some people up. Oh! And maybe people are trying out Pixelfed?
