(Szene - Deutschland)
@jaelisp why should I boycott the ESC? The conflict between Israel and Hamas is going for decades. The Hamas did a horrible attack on Israel, Israel is doing a horrible attack on Hamas. It's sad, that the two sides could not agree on living together peacefully in all that decades. I don't understand why Hamas was provoking this. They did know how powerful Israel is. Hamas often poked a bit and then trusted in Israel being humane. Now they poked in a really inhumane way and Israel responds in a really inhumane way. I mean, sure, you want a democracy to not do war crimes. But we haven't boycotted the USA for all their war crimes, why boycotting Israel then? It's still a democracy. There is a free press to reveal the war crimes. There are international laws. They will be evaluated.
Unlike Russia, who attacked a peaceful country without any reason, without being attacked. Russia that isn't democratic, that doesn't have a free press. They are to blame fully for the war on the Ukraine. With Israel attacking Gaza it was clearly provoked by Hamas. It was clear, that Israel will respond to the attack. The question is just how far they could have gone and how much did they exceeded that line? That's a tough question.
The USA attacked democracies for cheap oil. They destabilised the whole region there. They funded groups that later turned into terrorists and probably also provided weapons to the Hamas.
I really wish the world would be more fair and more peaceful. I really wish Israel and Hamas can put down their conflict and live in peace together. But I don't see, how boycotting ESC brings us closer to that.
