When you’re an engineer used to working at scale, getting out of your own way when working on a new app is essential.
A project doesn’t need all the fancy patterns and libraries you’re used to on day one—maybe never!
Just focus on getting it working. Start building. 👷🏻♂️
With more time on my hands, I’m reviewing my daily tools and eyeing up some upgrades. 👀
One thing I want to change? My shell. Oh-My-Zsh feels bloated, and the plugins can be unpredictable.
For the engineers: what are you using, and why? Anyone rocking nushell out there? 🧪
I started using @typefully yesterday and I already love it. It's a much slicker and smoother experience than @bufferapp, which I was using before.
To make installing it easier for nerds like me, I've added @typefully as a cask to @homebrew. 🍻
I just updated my /now page—battling with the Squarespace page editor was incredibly painful. It’s so unintuitive. 🤢
Squarespace was just-about-okay when I had zero time, but I think I need to start piecing https://nickpellant.com together myself again. 👷🏻♂️
Now that I've left Onfido, I'm excited to work on my own projects and start building in public again, so I’m restarting my WIP Pro membership. 🚧
As a '90s kid, Zoombinis got me hooked on problem-solving and set me up for my career in tech.
25 years on, my oldest and I are playing through the remake, and he's as obsessed as I was with Arno the pizza troll! 🍕
Thank you TERC for bringing Zoombinis back! 🙏
After an incredible four years, today marks my last day at Onfido. A huge thank you to everyone I've worked with—you've all taught me so much! 🙏
Now it's time for some R&R as I travel through Thailand with my family and consider my next move. 🌴
