The “Plan Vert” open letter to request that #Ruby on #Rails disassociate from DHH is only 7 signatures away from reaching 100.

It includes a former Rails core member, Eugen Rochko creator of Mastodon, Aaron Sumner of Everyday Rails, Ryan Bigg author of many Rails books, Lucas Dohmen author of “The Rails Way” series, Peter Boling maintainer of OAuth gems, Denis Defreyne creator of nanoc, and many others.

This is not a defense of religion , per se. Although on paper some aspects of it probably make sense from a moral standpoint. This is more a defense of panem et circenses, or more specifically a non-secular diversion that isn't the attainment of capital.

If you take away religion and free public education, and you put every kid in a Darth Vader t-shirt because "Darth Vader is cool looking" you get a populace that thinks bullying is fine is that it's ok for every aspect of human life to be centered around capital.

One of the things I think it will be tough to explain to future generations is that while organized religion was odious, it kept generation after generation of right wing crazies busy. Progressives, by mocking and dismantling it almost to the point of eradication, created a vacuum that these oligarchs are now filling. Separation of church and state was a flimsy defense, but it worked when we needed it to. Now we don't really have a defense because this *is* the state.

Something I'm constantly aware of working in tech is how toxic Agile is, and how destructive it is to actually having a meeting of the minds when it comes to making software. Anytime you replace simple, direct language with a DSL and rituals you lose more than you gain.

Agile is nothing less than an effort to create tiered communication between management, technical teams, and implementers.

AS a manager I WANT TO own the language SO THAT everyone has to kneel to my definition of reality.
