Or a bunch of anti-plague citizens couldn't bring themselves to vote for a pro-genocide candidate. Even in a two-party system, it's overly simplistic to reduce the options to the dispassionate support of one candidate or the other.
Sometimes people simply won't pull the lever to divert the runaway trolley. Not because they think the larger number of victims should die, but because they can't morally participate in system which is inevitably going to crush people for no good reason.
The democrats cannot suceed without the failure of republicans, they, like the republicans are a party of discontent. If the democrats go further left, they lose voters. If they go right, they lose voters.
They are a hobbling, wobbling, horrible coalition that is unable to permanently suceed or get things done due to corporate ties, interests, and influence. They don’t deserve our support, especially for their history of atrocities. The most they deserve is a vote until we form a new party.
